Woman taken to hospital after being hit by car on Sedgley road

A road was closed off and ambulance crews dispatched after a woman was hit by a car on a busy road near Sedgley.

Tipton Road in Sedgley was closed off and buses diverted after the incident, which happened at around 7.13am and saw one ambulance sent to the scene.

A woman pedestrian was treated at the scene for injuries not believed to be serious and then taken to Russell's Hall Hospital for further assessment.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a car and pedestrian on Tipton Road at 7.13am, one ambulance attended the scene. 

"On arrival, we discovered one patient, a woman, who was the pedestrian. 

"She was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Russell’s Hall Hospital for further assessment."

National Express West Midlands put up a message on social media to inform passengers that due to the incident on Tipton Road, the 11 and 11A service were being diverted to Walsall along Birmingham Road and Birmingham New Road.

A spokesman for National Express West Midlands said: "Due to an incident on Tipton Road near Sedgley, Services 11 & 11A are diverting to Walsall only via: Birmingham Road & Birmingham New Road.

"Apologies for any disruption to your journey."

West Midlands Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service have been contacted for a comment.
