Nile Rodgers set to rock Cannock Chase Forest as Forest Live headliner

A legendary guitarist, composer, songwriter and performer will hit the stage at Cannock Chase Forest this summer.

Nile Rodgers & Chic have been named as the latest headliners for Forest Live at Cannock Chase Forest on Wednesday, June 25, joining the likes of Sting, James and Snow Patrol in playing the natural bowl at Birches Valley.

Nile Rodgers is a Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame inductee and multiple Grammy Award-winning songwriter, composer, producer, arranger and guitarist who pioneered the disco movement of the 1970s, as well as sparking the advent of hip hop with 'Good Times'.

He generated chart-topping hits like ‘Le Freak’, the biggest selling single in the history of Atlantic Records, and his work with the Chic Organisation includes ‘We Are Family’ with Sister Sledge and ‘I’m Coming Out’ with Diana Ross.

Meanwhile, his production work for artists like David Bowie with ‘Let’s Dance’, Madonna with ‘Like A Virgin’ and Duran Duran with ‘The Reflex’ has seen Rodgers sell more than 750 million albums and 100 million singles worldwide, while he has also collaborated with Daft Punk, Daddy Yankee and Beyoncé.

Nile Rodgers & Chic played at four Forest Live locations in 2024 and will bring a show filled with fan-favourites and massive hit songs to get the fans up on their feet and dancing on June 25.

A spokesman for Forestry England said: "Merging stellar performances from world-class acts with beautiful outdoor locations to create an atmosphere like no other, Forest Live 2025 will take place at four forest venues: Forestry England Cannock Chase, Delamere, High Lodge, Thetford and Westonbirt Arboretum. 

"Nile Rodgers & Chic join a selection of renowned global artists announced to perform at Forestry England Cannock Chase in 2025, including Sting, Snow Patrol and James with support from Razorlight and Jamie Webster. 

"Forestry England manage and care for the nation’s 1,500 woods and forests.

"They use the money Forest Live raises to maintain these beautiful natural areas for everyone to enjoy, run important conservation projects and keep growing trees. 

"Last year they planted some 7.4 million trees and welcomed 285 million visits in 2023/24. 

"Everyone in England lives within a one-hour drive of one of the nation’s forests. Over two million people have enjoyed the Forest Live gigs over the last 23 years."

Tickets for the show go on sale at 9am on Friday (January 29) and can be bought at forestlive.com.
