Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis comes to Wolverhampton for a new series and it's very dramatic

One of the stars of the Harry Potter films is set to film inside the former offices of the Express & Star as part of a new TV series.

Matthew Lewis, who is best known for playing Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter film series, will be in the former offices on Queen Street as part of filming of a new Channel 5 crime drama called "Murder Before Evensong", which is based on Rev. Richard Coles’ best-selling novel.

Crews have been seen setting up around the Express & Star building, which was closed in December 2023, ahead of filming of the drama, which is a Channel 5 and AMC Networks’ Acorn TV production and is being filmed across the West Midlands over 13 weeks.

A source close to the Express & Star said that film crews from The Lighthouse Film and Television would be in the building between Monday and Thursday, with filming set to take place between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Matthew Lewis will star as Canon Daniel Clement, who shares Champton rectory with his widowed mother Audrey and his two dachshunds, Cosmo and Hilda.
