His attackers Rees MacDonald, of Brewood, and Zuhayb Abdi, of Handsworth, were found guilty of wounding with intent after a trial two months ago and were sentenced for their actions at a hearing on Friday.(24)

Sentencing them Judge John Butterfield KC said both defendants posed a risk to the public and he described their behaviour as "vicious and cowardly" and that the incident was "clearly" relating to drug dealing activity.

He said prior to the stabbing the 33-year-old victim was "strong and vibrant" and that a medical report stated he will be "mostly disabled".

"This was all done to promote power in a pernicious trade, that is, drug dealing," Judge Butterfield said.
