'This is what the game is about' - Kind-hearted Walsall fans give seat to Bradford supporter on way to match

A heart-warming photo shared on the Football Fans Home and Away Days Facebook group shows the elderly gentleman, donned with his Bradford City burgundy and yellow scarf, sitting on the Walsall fans' coach with a smile.

It just so happened that one of the coaches that the Walsall Football Club fans were travelling on had a spare seat for the journey to the match at the Valley Parade stadium in Bradford.

The Saddlers fans lent a helping hand to a rival supporter who also needed to get to the stadium, and invited him on board.

The away game was attended by around 900 Walsall fans in total.

The act of kindness has been praised on Facebook, with more than 4,300 likes and 247 comments.

Terry Casey said a similar thing happened to him, and praised Walsall fans: "Went to Walsall game a few years ago, home fans are brilliant and invited us to sit with them."

Bob Green said: "That's fantastic. How it should be. All credit!"

Phil Wilkinson agreed: "This is so amazing. Total respect, well done!"

Tracy McCrory commented: "Thank you, not all football fans are nice and have respect."

Steven Lamb said this is what the sport is all about: "Shows the other side of football supporters. Credit to their football club and as human beings. Football is a game to be enjoyed by all and we all reach a certain age."

Sadly, Walsall’s hopes of achieving ten consecutive wins in League Two were crushed in a 3-0 defeat to a ruthless Bradford City side.

It is Walsall’s first league defeat since October 1 when they lost 6-2 at home to Fleetwood Town – the side they will travel to on Tuesday night.
