Mark Grant, 57, from Winson Green Road, will appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Monday.

He is also charged with the breach of a restraining order.

It follows an incident on Soho Road on Friday afternoon where a woman received injuries following an alleged assault.

Security staff at the The Soho Road BID (Business Improvement District) detained a suspect on Friday and officers then arrested him and took him into custody.

Sergeant Greg Lampitt, supervisor for Lozells East Handsworth Neighbourhood Team, said: “We work closely with the Soho BID and other partner and support agencies to help tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in the Lozells and Handsworth areas.”
