The Fallings Park area of Wolverhampton is an area which has been touted over the years as "rough", "unsafe" and "not somewhere I'd go for a drink".

This reputation is one the community has fought hard to disprove and show that their area is a welcoming one with great facilities and the Golden Lion has become a leader in that effort.

The pub on Cannock Road was built in 1937 by local architect Richard Twentyman and has been at the heart of the community of Fallings Park since then.

It was sold to Marston's in 2018 and underwent a major refurbishment before reopening in February 2019 and has since become a place for all kinds of community activities, from people looking to watch football on the screens inside to families looking for a meal.

It is currently managed by Anna Maragliano, who said she had been a part of the pub for nearly 20 years, having started as a cleaner, and had worked her way up to her current position.

She said: "I'm from this area and I love this pub, having been here on and off for 20 years and having started here as a cleaner, then gradually worked my way up to manager.
