Youngster admits water pistol was squirted at group in park before family picnic turned into altercation
A youngster who was at Doe Bank Park near Walsall with two friends when they became embroiled in an argument with a group on a family picnic admitted one of his group squirted a water pistol near them.
The boy, who can't be named for legal reasons, told Wolverhampton Crown Court he was at the park on the afternoon of May 28, 2023 with two friends on bikes playing football and one of them had a water pistol.
Under cross-examination by prosecuting counsel David Iles, he said one of them was drinking out of the water pistol and then it was squirted at or near the group which numbered 'above 12'.
He said: "One man threatened me with his fists and chased me, he scared me. My friend called his dad but then we rode off and heard nothing more.
"We didn't hide in the bushes, we made our way out of the park and towards home."
