Three men are on trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court charged with violent disorder and affray over the incident which took place at Doe Bank Park, Pheasey on Sunday, May 28, 2023.

One man, Stephen McCallum, is also facing charges of wounding with intent and using an offensive weapon after he allegedly wielded a metal pole, badly injuring one of the Asian group.

The court heard three youngsters were in the park on their bikes and "messing about" with a water pistol which was squirted near the Asian group who were enjoying a family picnic.

David Iles, prosecuting, said: "This was essentially an altercation between white males and Asians which started with one of the defendants' sons engaging with the group.

"One of the youngsters squirted a water pistol near to the family group, words were exchanged and the defence will say the youngster was threatened.
