Second man arrested on suspicion of rape after woman attacked near shopping centre

A second man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman was attacked near to a shopping centre.

The incident happened near to the One Stop Shopping Centre on Walsall Road in Perry Barr, Birmingham, on Saturday (January 18).

Police were called to the scene at around 1.50am.

A short time later, officers received a separate report that another woman had been assaulted on Aldridge Road, near to Holford Drive, in Perry Barr.

Police are keeping an open mind as to whether the incidents are linked, a West Midlands Police spokesperson said.

The force confirmed on Tuesday (January 21) a 21-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of rape from an address in Birmingham.

A 22-year-old man who was arrested on Monday on suspicion of rape has since been released on bail while officers continue with their enquiries.

The police spokesperson added: "Information can also be given to us via Live Chat or by calling 101 quoting log 218 and 520 of 18/1."
