An investigation has been launched after human remains were discovered next to Oldbury Cemetery, in St Paul's Road, Sandwell

Officers from the British Transport Police were called to the line near Langley Green railway station at around 12pm on Wednesday, January 15, following reports of 'human remains' being uncovered.

Enquiries into the remains are still ongoing as of Tuesday, with officers remaining at the scene as well as the nearby Oldbury cemetery. 

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to the line near Langley Green railway station at around 12pm on Wednesday (15 January) following the report of human remains being uncovered during the work of ecologists in a cemetery adjacent to the location. 

"Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing."
