Fifty-year-old Simon Meeson was initially jailed for four years for his role in a series of break-ins at dwellings including a property where the victims were asleep in their beds.

Miss Naomi Nelson-Cofie, prosecuting, told Wolverhampton Crown Court that officers discovered "the loot" stolen by the defendant and accomplice James McNamara, aged 36,  at a property in Latches Close in Darlaston.

Items including bank cards, car and house keys, an "expensive camera" belonging to a victim's late wife were snatched from homes in a spate of burglaries in Providence Terrace, and in Queen Street and Festival Avenue in Moxley on October 29, 2023.

Sentencing him to an extra six months behind bars Mr Recorder Rupert Jones said there had been a degree of planning to the enterprise and there had been an "emotional impact" on the victims who described how they were left in "shock".
