Major disruption on M6 following 'multiple vehicle collision' involving HGV and car

Major disruption along a stretch of the M6 has been reported due to a multi vehicle collision on the route to Wednesbury

The M6 northbound, between junction 8 (for the M5) to Junction 9 (Wednesbury) has seen major disruption this morning after lanes were closed due to a crash along the route involving a HGV and a car.  

The incident was confirmed to be a 'multiple vehicle collision' by highways group National Highways West Midlands, with traffic officers attending the scene to clear the debris this morning. 

Highways teams remained on site to clear the area, with delays of 30 minutes remaining in place. 

On X, National Highways West Midlands said: "Due to a multiple collision involving a car and a HGV,  there are delays on the M6 northbound between J8 and J9 (Walsall). 

"National Highways TrafficOfficers have cleared the scene. Delays reported of 30 minutes."

The incident was also reported by roads watchdog, West Midlands Roads, at 7.12am this morning, with the group warning of stationary traffic on the route.

The group said on X: "M6 northbound J8 M5 to J9 Wednesbury

"Live lane(s) closed. Stranded vehicles. Stationary traffic. Major disruption."

Emergency services have been approached for more information.
