Police probe potential link between woman raped in Perry Barr and another attacked in same night

Police are investigating whether attacks on two women are linked after one was raped and another injured just streets away.

West Midlands Police have launched an investigation after one woman was raped in Perry Barr, Birmingham on Saturday (January 18).

Officers were called at 1:50am and sealed off parts of Walsall Road.

A second woman suffered injuries to her face in an assault in nearby Aldridge Road.

A police cordon has been set up outside One Stop shopping on Walsall Road - less than two miles away from Aldridge Road.

Detectives are working to understand if the two incidents are linked.

A police spokesperson said: "We understand the concern and worry that this will cause the local community. 

"We continue to support the women and our enquiries are ongoing."
