Seven incredible restaurant deals to beat the January blues in and around the Black Country

January can be a bit of a bore after the fun of Christmas is over - and many of us are all spent out, with little spare cash to splash on dining out or enjoying a night out. 

But fear not - lots of restaurants and pub chains have stepped up to offer discounts and promotions to attract guests to beat the January blues.

We've taken a look at the offers available to foodies and drinkers and picked out seven of the best in and around the Black Country. These are presented in no particular order.

Greene King Flaming Grill pubs are offering a buy one get one free (BOGOF) offer on a variety of food and drink items, which includes burgers, steaks, fish and chips and flatbreads. 

Guests can also take advantage of BOGOF drinks including cocktails, bottled beer, cider and glass of house wine. 

The offer is available until January 20 and is available at a range of Greene King pubs across the Black Country and into Staffordshire and Shropshire. - including the Pear & Patridge in Perton, The Two Greens in Tettenhall and Woodman Inn in Codsall.

The popular high quality steakhouse, which has restaurants in Wolverhampton, Cannock, Smethwick and Telford, is offering a discounted meal from its Rare Treat Menu.

Customers will be able to pick either a two course meal for £24.95 or a three course meal for £28.95 from a set menu of carefully selected starters, four types of steal with steak sauce, wedge dressing and choice of side, a main meal full of burgers, fish and other classics, and an indulgent pudding menu.

There is also a wide drinks menu as part of the menu, including cocktails and wine and a selection of non-alcoholic drinks as well.

The promotion runs throughout January and is available all-day Sunday to Thursday and 12pm to 5pm Friday and Saturdays.

The country pub on the Chester Road is providing an incentive for new members to its award scheme, which  entitles members to discounts and promotions at the pub in Aldridge, as well as 120 other pubs in the  Premium Country Dining Group owned by Mitchells & Butlers.

For anyone signing up to the scheme for free on the pub website, they will be able to take advantage of 50 per cent off main courses from the pub menu between Monday and Friday throughout January.

This means being able to enjoy a discounted meal from a menu inspired by the season and featuring fresh flavours, local classics, modern favourites or a vegan or vegetarian option.

As part of a promotion by Great UK Pubs, the Stafford town centre pub is offering a substantial discount on orders from the core food menu.

Operating between Monday and Thursday throughout January, anyone making a new booking will be able to get 40 per cent off the food bill, with items on the menu including Coconut Thai Vegetable Curry, fish and chips, burgers and a range of other meals on offer.

The lakeside restaurant in Sutton Park is offering a chance for customers to sample its high quality, British classics cuisine at a reduced rate across January through a discount code.

It means that anyone looking to try the breaded chicken, roasted monkfish, ribeye steak and a selection of indulgent desserts can do so for 30 per cent off the normal price throughout January.

The Italian chain offers a contemporary dining experience which fits as close to the authentic Italian dining experience as possible, with striking dishes made with homemade ingredients.

It has a restaurant set in the heart of the busy Merry Hill Centre and is offering adults the chance to eat for £1 by ordering any main dish and getting a second for just £1 throughout January.

The offer is available by signing up on the Ask Italian website and getting an offer code, then presenting that code when making an order of a meal.

Bringing the best southern American BBQ flavours to the region, Hickory's has a fine range of meats and treats on offer for lovers of BBQ to enjoy.

Throughout January, the popular chain is offering what it calls "Smokin' Deals" between Monday and Thursday throughout January, starting with its big chicken basket full of Southern fried chicken, popcorn chicken and cajun battered wings and sides for £12.99 on Mondays.

On Tuesdays, customers can get a foot-long sausage loaded with onions, BBQ sauce, mustard and crushed pork rings for £12.99, while Wednesdays provide an 8oz rump steak with pepper sauce and a milkshake for £12.99.

Finally, Thursdays see a selection of smokehouse favourites, including baby back ribs, southern fried chicken, BBQ glazed chicken wings, hand pulled pork, BBQ pit beans & Hickorys wood Smoked Pork jalapeño & cheese sausage. Served with skin-on fries & slaw for £19.99.
