Brazilian and Portuguese restaurant and speciality food shop, BrasilPortu, on Bearwood Road, Smethwick, shot to fame after Aston Villa midfielder Philippe Coutinho, who is on loan to Villa from Brazilian football club, Vasco da Gama, was spotted browsing their shelves.

However, since the shop opened more than five years ago, he hasn't been the only football star to be seen shopping there.

The dining spot, which was opened by Diego Jezler in 2019 has also been visited by Brazilian footballers Diego Costa and Douglas Luiz, as well as hundreds of hungry and thirsty locals.

Talking about the shop, head chef of almost two years and Smethwick resident, Igor Benedito, 28, said he loves exploring Brazilian and Portuguese food and bringing the unique cuisine to the West Midlands.
