On August 24 last year at around 1.25am, 34-year-old Reasha Geddes swung at his victim with a knife, slashing his neck and leaving him with serious injuries on Dudley Road near its junction with Bellefield Road.

Geddes fled the scene, disposing of his clothes along the way back to his home in Rotton Park Road in Edgbaston

Paramedics from a passing ambulance luckily saw the victim and treated him at the scene before conveying him to hospital where he was put in a coma.

CCTV footage showed Geddes returning home at around 1.40am.

An area search found some of the clothes that he was wearing during the attack that were discarded as he fled.

Geddes went on to admit Section 18 - grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a blade, and has now been jailed for eight years and three months.
