The events are part of a collaboration between the Walsall Society of Artists and The Walsall Poets Collective for a new series of events called Art Meets Poetry Live.

Poets, creatives and beginners alike can go along and try their hand in workshops, meet others and share ideas.

Walsall Society of Artists celebrated its 75th anniversary this year, and held its 74th exhibition earlier this month. Local artists showed off their masterpieces and conducted live demonstrations for the public, with some incredible pieces on display.

As part of their 75th anniversary celebrations, the Society has been commissioned by Creative Black Country to compile a book of artwork entitled "Art Meets Poetry 2025".

The books include images of the artwork on display as well as the poems they inspired, and will be up for sale following the ‘Art Meets Poetry Live’ event on January 26 for £5.

There are a variety of events taking place over the next few weeks that all are invited to attend.

Art Meets Poetry Live:

As part of the exhibition, there will be two ‘Art Meets Poetry Live’ events at The New Art Gallery. These will be taking place on January 19 and 26 from 2.15pm to 3.45pm.

Poets from The Walsall Poets Collective will be presenting their poems inspired by artworks exhibited at the Walsall gallery. Following each poet’s presentation, each artist will give a brief outline of the inspiration behind their artwork.

Poetry Workshops:

Prior to each ‘Art Meets Poetry Live’ event, there are two poetry workshops in the Community Gallery at The New Art Gallery Walsall, organised by The Walsall Poets Collective. These workshops are free to take part in and don’t have to be booked in advance. The workshops are put on in the hope to 'stimulate ideas' for future artwork and poetry, and how art and poetry can be inspired by sounds.
