Bradley Steventon, aged 20 now but 19 at the time, mounted pavements and drove head on at oncoming traffic in Dawley.
Shrewsbury Crown Court was told how at around 9pm on August 9 last year, police were on patrol when they saw Steventon, who had no driving licence and was uninsured, driving a Jaguar X-Type.
He sped away from them, driving on the wrong side of the road into the path of oncoming traffic.
The pursuing officer abandoned the chase as it was too dangerous, but came across Steventon again moments later.
He drove towards the officer, who tried to block his path, but Steventon mounted the pavement and drove over a grassy area.
