Woman killed in Wolverhampton was 'kicked repeatedly' - but alleged attacker denies being with her

A man accused of murdering a sex worker in Wolverhampton claimed he had not been with her, the jury was told.

Helen Kempster died in hospital the same morning after being left with serious head, face, neck and chest injuries after being attacked in Kingsland Road near West Park in the early hours of June 16, 2022. 

Wolverhampton Crown Court heard she had been kicked at least six times and suffered 17 rib fractures. 

Giving evidence for the prosecution on Tuesday, PC Joseph Michael told the jury he was among the first officers to arrived at the scene and he spoke to the defendant Rahul Sharma. 

The officer read aloud to the jury a transcript of the conversation that was recorded on his bodycam. It included the discussion between the officer, the 31-year-old and his father Sunil who has also arrived.
