Birmingham's Snow Hill line has reported 'major problems' due to heavy rain flooding the tracks between Snow Hill Station, Birmingham, and Stratford-Upon-Haven.

The incident was first reported early this morning, with West Midlands Railway alerting of route changes, delays and possible cancellations.

On the West Midlands Railway website, the group said that alternative options are available for travellers of the line, including the National Express West Midlands bus services.

The group said: "Due to heavy rain flooding the railway between Birmingham Snow Hill and Stratford-Upon-Avon the line is blocked.

"Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or diverted via Dorridge. All stations between Spring Road and Stratford Parkway will not be served by train. Disruption is expected to last until around 12:00 today.

"We have arranged for you to use yours with National Express: West Midlands local bus routes between Birmingham City Centre and Shirley. We will arrange a rail replacement service between Shirley and Stratford upon Avon. National Express West Midlands is accepting passengers between Birmingham Snow Hill and Shirley in both directions until further notice."

The latest disruption comes as many morning commuters face travel issues due to overnight rain, melting snow and other adverse weather.

In other areas, a number of bus routes in Walsall and Wolverhampton were forced to divert due to adverse weather and flooding, with Leamore Lane in Bloxwich remaining closed while the flooding eases.
