"It's a bit ridiculous, It's 2025 but it feels like we are living in the Middle Ages - we had to book a hotel just so we can give our child an actual shower."

Those are the words of Jason and Sarah (whose names have been changed at their request), who are just two residents who have been left without running water since a power cut on the night before New Year's Eve.

The residents of Wave Close, Walsall, were cut off from their water supply on Monday, December 30, after a power cut allegedly destroyed the building's industrial water pump.

Since then, residents have been living out of two-litre bottles of water and two water bowsers, provided by landlords Green Square Accord and Severn Trent Water, which they need to visit each time they want to refill their bottles.

Now, residents of the flats have taken the chance to speak anonymously about their frustration at being left without a means to use their own sinks or showers, with one couple even booking a hotel so they can wash their young child.

"We were told that it was because of a power cut, it knocked out the water pumps or something," said Jason.

"It's really frustrating. We can't really take showers. We actually had to pay around £150 just for a hotel for the night so we could give our child an actual wash. It's just not great."

The couple live in the address with their young child, having to visit the water bowser each day to refill their two-litre bottles of water so they have something to drink.
