Construction work is underway to replace Pelsall's historic Yorks Bridge with a new £3 million bridge over the Essington and Wyrley Canal in Norton Road.
Excavation started in the autumn and large wooden moulds were being made for the base for the new structure. When the concrete is set the mould will be removed.
The work is been carried out by Telford-based contractor McPhillips on behalf of Walsall Council which wants to improve road safety. The team is also working on a brand new drainage system to ensure that rainwater will not cause flooding on the carriageway.
