'I thought it was gunshots!' Explosions heard as more than 30 firefighters battled scrapyard blaze in Cradley

More than 30 firefighters have been battling a blaze at a Black Country scrapyard.

West Midlands Fire Service crews rushed to Ideal Works, Hayes Lane, Cradley, where a large fire had been reported at around 6pm on Monday (December 30).

Fire crews from across the Black Country comprising more than 30 officers have attended to fight the fire affecting two outbuildings as well as vehicles, and nearby residents have been advised to keep doors and windows closed.

Booming explosion sounds could be heard coming from the site in video submitted to the Express & Star (above).

A statement by the West Midlands Fire Service said: "Just after 6pm on Monday (December 30), we responded to an incident on Hayes Lane, Cradley, Halesowen.
