Passengers are advised to leave extra time before travelling and check journey planners, with West Midlands Railway services as well as those for Transport for Wales trains affected.

The engineering delays have seen services cancelled between Birmingham New Street and Shrewsbury, with replacement coaches running between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury.

Services running between Walsall and Birmingham New Street have also been impacted.

West Midlands Railway said: "Due to engineering works overrunning, services running through Wolverhampton will be disrupted today (27/12/2024).

"We advise leaving extra time before you travel and checking the journey planner for up-to-date live information. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Meanwhile Transport for Wales is reporting a number of delays to its timetable for trains travelling to, from or through Shrewsbury and is advising passengers travelling from the Shropshire town to Crewe or Manchester, and those on the Aberystwyth service to Shrewsbury to check before they travel.

Services via Crewe have also been affected by major signalling work in the area.
