Care at Christmas: Shop's first week of trading in aid of Acorns Children's Hospice exceeds sales expectations
Retail bosses at Acorn's Children's Hospice said opening week trading at its new Black Country superstore has exceeded expectations thanks to supporters.

The new branch opened for business in Oldbury Road in Blackheath on December 19 as part of ongoing efforts to generate revenue for the charity which runs three centres for children and teens with life limiting illnesses.
Acorns Jo Hanks retail operations manager says: “Our opening week in Blackheath was an outstanding success, thanks to the incredible support from the Blackheath and wider Black Country community.
“Sales exceeded our expectations. To continue this momentum we need ongoing support in the form of donations, including furniture, and volunteers who can gift us their time.”
The charity cares for poorly children and teenagers with life limiting conditions and needs £35,000 per day to keep its three centres serving the Black Country, Staffordshire, Birmingham and Wyre Forest open.
To lend its support the Express & Star has launched it's Care at Christmas appeal to highlight the families being cared for and the work of the dedicated staff at the trust.
