More than 100 suspects could spend Christmas in cells across the West Midlands

The offences range from burglary and shoplifting to vehicle crime and supplying drugs

West Midlands Police have said that more than 100 people may be spending their Christmas in the cells on suspicion of a range of offences including burglary, shoplifting, vehicle crime and supplying drugs. 

In Oldbury, officers have five people in custody in connection with burglaries in the area; while there are also people in the cells on suspicion of assault and the theft of a motor vehicle.

In Bloxwich, a 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of shoplifting offences, while another 30-year-old man has been detained in connection with vehicle thefts. 

In Perry Barr, officers have a 27-year-old man in custody on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, as well as assaulting emergency workers and possession of a blade.

Meanwhile, in Wolverhampton, a 60-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and driving while unfit. 

A West Midlands Police said: "It may be the Christmas period, but our work across the whole of the West Midlands never stops. 

"We have officers on duty 24/7, every day of the year, keeping you safe and catching crime suspects."
