The Environment Agency says river levels remain high at the Milford Sow river gauge due to the continued rainfall and already saturated ground.

It says flooding of roads and farmland is expected to continue throughout today.

They expect  flooding to affect low-lying land and roads adjacent to the River Sow between Great Bridgeford and Shugborough, the River Penk between Coven and Stafford, the Sandyford Brook, the Rising Brook, the Ridings Brook and the Saredon Brook.

Levels are expected to remain high until this evening.

People are asked to avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses.

Drivers are asked to plan routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers which may be flooded.
