Police probe underway as driver 'abandons car and flees' from crash in Staffordshire

Police rushed to the scene of Wrottesley Park Road and Holyhead Road in Perton, near Wolverhampton, to reports of a crash involving two cars on Thursday morning (December 19). 

On arrival, officers discovered a blue Peugeot 508 and a black Vauxhall Astra, both of which were involved in the collision.

Staffordshire Police confirmed that while no one was injured in the crash, the driver of the Astra 'failed to remain at the scene'.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 8.10am to reports of a two-car collision on Wrottesley Park Road at the junction of Holyhead Road, Perton. 

"The collision involved a blue Peugeot 508 and a black Vauxhall Astra. The driver of the Astra left the scene leaving the car at the scene. No one was injured."

Officers added that an investigation has started to find out who was driving the car, with the spokesperson adding "we are carrying out enquiries to trace the driver."
