Illegal puppy farm couple will spend Christmas at home after broken Stafford Court lifts delay sentencing
A Hednesford couple facing jail over running an illegal puppy farm in their home will spend Christmas at home due to Stafford Crown Court's lifts being broken.
Ian, 69, and Sue Wilson, 65, attended court in wheelchairs and were told they could not use the lift to the first floor where the hearing was being held.
The latest delay is another in a long line of hold-ups concerning the prosecution of the couple, whose Mount Street home was raided in 2019. More than 60 dogs in "atrocious conditions" were removed.
In August, after several delays, they pleaded guilty to fraud charges on the first day of their trial. They both admitted using their property between March 2017 and October 2019 to breed dogs.
Mr Wilson also pleaded guilty to fraud by misrepresentation by sending pictures of German Shepherds to prospective buyers and pretending they were from a loving home.
