Every day Alan Homer wishes he had died in the car accident which has left him unable to walk or care for himself again.
The grandfather pulled out on 30mph Halesowen Road, in Netherton, on May 28, last year when a dangerous driver ploughed into his car at over 70mph - and changed his life forever.
Joseph Shilton, 22, was driving his Ford Fiesta when he crashed into Mr Homer's Peugeot causing a catastrophic accident. Shilton and his passenger staggered away from their car, but Alan was left unconscious for two weeks, and when he did wake up he had severe brain damage and could not talk.
Mr Homer will never walk again, never regain the full function of his brain and requires carers to help him each day.
He will never be able to play with his grandchildren again and he will never work again.
