It will be immediately accessible to local residents in the event that someone in the High Street or surrounding area has an accident or if there is an incident such as a car crash.

The kits are used to seal wounds and stop bleeding whilst emergency services are on the way, and which are proven to save lives.

Steve Bridgwater, the  caretaker at Brierley Hill Market said: “We’re really thankful to the councillors for making this possible and to The Daniel Baird Foundation for their generous donation.

"Hopefully this is a piece of kit we never have to use, but thanks to all involved, it is publicly accessible in the event of an emergency and  could save someones life.”

Councillor Cook who represents Brierley Hill and Wordsley South said: “A big thank you to Keiran for his work in getting these kits out across his ward, and across the rest of the borough, he’s been a champion of these for some time now.

"I’m really grateful to Lynne from the foundation for donating this cabinet and the original bleed kit that the market have, as well as second kit which we have donated to the Brier Rose Public House.

"I’m determined to continue to do everything I can to improve safety in Brierley Hill High Street and across the ward more generally, and will be looking to get more of these kits and cabinets installed”

Councillor Casey, who represents Castle and Priory Ward was already instrumental in getting a bleed control kit kit installed inside the market earlier this year but said the new one on the outside would be acccessible 24-hours a day.

He said: "These are really vital pieces of equipment and I’m really glad I’ve been able to work with Matt as the local councillor, as well as Lynne to get this cabinet and kits for Brierley Hill High Street.

"A massive thank you to Lynne for donating this equipment and for the work she is doing to improve community safety right across the West Midlands.

"It’s an honour to support the work of the Daniel Baird Foundation and I want to see more of these kits and cabinets right across our borough, as they can genuinely can save lives.”
