Zoey Lowe started as head of Springdale Primary School in Penn last September - and there have been lots of changes since.

The school has undertaken a full refurbishment over the past year, which Mrs Lowe said the children are "really proud of".

The headteacher added the Warstones Drive school has invested "heavily" in the art curriculum, including by creating an art studio where youngsters can get creative and through appointing a sports coach.

Mrs Lowe told the Express & Star: "We have refurbished the whole school to create a beautiful, vibrant environment. That's classrooms, corridors and displays.

"We have created an art studio and we have three therapeutic classroom with sensory provision that those children need and their progress is incredible."
