Heavy congestion after lorry sheds it load on M6

Two lanes have been closed on the M6 after a lorry shed its load

A highways group warned of heavy delays on the M6 Junction 10 and Junction 10A, Walsall after a lorry shed its load.

Lanes one and two were closed due to debris across the road, with National Highways West Midlands warning of delays of around 45 minutes. 

Teams were on the scene to assist with cleaning the debris, with approximately four miles of congestion being reported.

On X, National Highways West Midlands said: "Lanes 1 and 2 are CLOSED on the #M6 northbound between J10 and J10a near #Walsall due to a Lorry that has shed its load. 

"Area team are on scene to assist with debris clearance. There are currently delays of 45 minutes and approx. 4 miles of congestion."

Both lanes have since reopened, however, 35 minutes of delays remain on approach as congestion eases. 

National Highways West Midlands updated on X: "All lanes are now OPEN on the #M6 northbound between J10 and J10a near #Walsall following a Lorry that has shed it's load. 

"Please allow extra time if travelling in the area as delays of 35 mins and approx. 4 miles of congestion. Thank you for your patience."

Emergency services have been approached for comment.
