Crews from two fire stations were called to Aspects Power Coatings Limited on the Coneygree Industrial Estate in Tipton just after 5.10am after reports of the leak, which was found to be on the floor of one of the units on site.

The building was evacuated and a cordon erected while crews worked to remove the leak, wearing breathing apparatus and using an onsite spill kit to absorb the chemicals.

While a cordon remained on the entrance to the unit hours later, the crews were able to hand over the site to the duty manager and leave at 7.04am with no casualties reported.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: "Shortly after 5.10am on Friday, December 13, we responded to a call from Coneygree Industrial Estate in Tipton.

"A fire engine from Dudley and a fire engine from Tipton responded.
