Langley Swimming Baths was demolished when the Sandwell Aquatics Centre was developed and a campaign launched to keep the  distinctive mosaic depicting fish, mermaids and the Greek god of the ocean Posiedon, It was funded by Alright and Wilson and created by children from nearby Albright Boys School.

Clive Heywood from the group said there had been a lot of work gone into preparing the mural for when it finds a permanent home.

He said: " We have had to 'skin' the bricks down to about three cms depth to remove a lot of weight and enable it to be wall mounted.

" The Mermaid Mosaic was facing downwards for quite a while but recently we turned it over to remind people of its beauty and have had a quite a lot of interested visitors come to see it but we are still looking for a permanent home for it."
