Friends stop off in Wolverhampton as part of challenging mission
A group of friends and dedicated runners have embarked on a seven-day, 216-mile charity run and stopped off in Wolverhampton this week.
The event, named You’ll Never Run Alone (#YNRA), has seen four friends set off on a run from Basingstoke to Liverpool to raise funds for two causes - Victoria’s Promise and St. Michael’s Hospice in Basingstoke.
Mark Dolby, Jose Messa, Matthew Hope and Robin Froud have been taking part in the gruelling challenge as a tribute to Robin’s late wife Debbie, who sadly lost her battle last December.
“The #YNRA run is more than a physical challenge; it’s a testament to the power of community, resilience, and compassion,” explained Robin.
“The guys are covering an average of over 30 miles per day, crossing towns and cities, united by a common goal - to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those facing life-altering challenges.”
“Victoria’s Promise supports young women and their families through cancer treatment and recovery, whilst St Michael’s Hospice in Basingstoke delivers exceptional care and support to those with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones.”
YNRA run began in Basingstoke on Sunday and has already taken in Chipping Norton, before making its way through Stratford-upon-Avon, Wolverhampton, Market Drayton, Chester and culminating in Liverpool, a city synonymous with the spirit of solidarity and the iconic anthem, “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
Along the way, the runners will be cheered on by supporters, communities, and local organisations.
Mark concluded: “This event is not just for runners; it’s a rallying cry for everyone to come together for a greater cause. Follow our journey, share our message, and help us prove that no one has to face life’s challenges alone.”
