Luke Finch, 31, was spotted by officers driving an Audi A3 erratically on Mucklow Hill, Halesowen, at 1.20am on Thursday, October 24, this year.
When officers blue-lighted the car, instead of pulling over Finch sped off and tried to escape the chasing police by trying to lose them.
Prosecutor Lachlan Stewart told Wolverhampton Crown Court: "When officers blue lighted him, Finch slowed down to a crawl and then sped off.
"The pursuit lasted over two and a half minutes, he was driving 72mph in a 30mph zone."
A second police car joined the pursuit, and Finch, who has yet to pass a driving test, was no match for experienced police drivers who cornered him on Nimmings Lane.
Finch tried to run away after stopping the car but was caught almost immediately by officers.
