He had also previously pleaded guilty to 11 counts of indecent assault on a boy and four counts of indecency with a child during the same period.

The 55-year-old’s offending came to light when one of his survivors reported to police what had happened to him.

During the course of the investigation another survivor of his abuse was identified, a woman who had been raped on a number of occasions by him.

DC Sara Turton, from the Public Protection Unit at West Midlands Police, said: “Penniall subjected a child to years of repeated serious sexual abuse and raped a woman on a number of occasions. I am delighted he has received many years behind bars so that he can no longer pose a risk to the community.

“I would like to commend the survivors of Penniall’s abuse, who found the courage to come forward and speak to us. Their bravery has brought him to justice and protected others from potential future crimes.”

The victims and all survivors of sexual assault are protected by law and have life long anonymity.
