The National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, Lichfield is inviting visitors to embrace the magic of the season with Illuminated Arboretum, a winter light trail that brings the 150-acre site to life after dark.

Running until December 22, the approximately 1.5-mile-long trail, which runs every evening from 4.30pm, offers visitors the opportunity to see the Arboretum in a completely new light, along a route combining interactive sensory installations, immersive spaces, and areas for personal reflection.

Neill Martin-Hoare, head of events at the National Memorial Arboretum, said: “This year’s Illuminated Arboretum combines creativity, culture, and Remembrance in a truly unique way.

“The reimagined trail features new installations, including some marking the 80th anniversary of several landmark moments of the Second World War.

"Whether you're looking for festive fun, a space for reflection, or simply a magical experience with family and friends, this event offers something for everyone.”

Ticket holders will also encounter the ‘Guiding Lights’ community-led art installations, which showcase the power of storytelling through collective creativity, weaving together the threads of arts, culture, history, and Remembrance.

The multi-year project led by the Arboretum’s Learning and Participation team, has brought together diverse participants from schools and community settings, offering a chance for local voices and stories to create elements for Illuminated Arboretum.

Tickets are priced from £25, with under-5s and carers admitted free of charge and visitors are encouraged to arrive promptly, as entry is every 15 minutes between 4.30pm and 7.30pm.

Once inside, guests are welcome to explore the route at their own pace and can also enjoy a selection of food and drinks available to purchase, including pasties, loaded fries, and mulled wine from The Restaurant, with concessions located along the route.
