'You were our hero': Devastated children pay tribute to dad who died in Walsall as man charged with manslaughter

A man has been charged over the death of another man in Walsall as his heartbroken children have issued a touching tribute to their "hero" dad.

Kevin Taylor, aged 51, was found unconscious in Lichfield Street shortly before 5am on December 7, prompting police to launch an investigation. 

Kejuan Malone, of Hall Green, was arrested following the incident and charged with manslaughter on Monday (December 9) night.

The 32-year-old is due to appear before Walsall Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Now, Mr Taylor's children have released a touching tribute to him.

In the tribute issued by West Midlands Police, they said: "Dad, you were our hero, a guiding light who taught us love, kindness, and resilience.

"Your generosity and unwavering support touched so many lives, and your memory will forever live in our hearts. We love you deeply and will honour your legacy always.”

The parents of Mr Taylor, who is also known as Taisekwa, said they would miss him dearly.

The tribute read: "Our beloved son Taisekwa, your kindness and compassion were a blessing to all who knew you.

"You brought joy and pride to our lives, and your selflessness touched hearts far and wide.

"Though you are gone, your legacy of love will forever remain with us. We will miss you dearly, our precious child.”

West Midlands Police said it is continuing with its investigation and has urged witnesses or those with video footage to get in touch via Live Chat on its website, or by calling 101 and quoting log 610 of December 7.

A dedicated online portal has also been set up where people can submit information.
