Bridgnorth West and Tasley Councillor Les Winwood died in the early hours of July 17, 2022, at Keith Kennedy's Bilston house.
Kennedy phoned emergency services concerning Councillor Winwood's death which led to police officers attending the property. Kennedy was then charged with supplying crack cocaine
after officers discovered evidence during their visit.
Kennedy, of Cumberland Road, Bilston, removed drugs and equipment from the property before ringing 999, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.
However, officers still spotted evidence of drug taking and launched an investigation.
Kennedy was not charged with supplying drugs to Councillor Winwood and there was no suggestion in the court hearing of any link, or any indication as to why the councillor was at the defendant’s house.
Kennedy pleaded guilty to supplying crack cocaine at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court in August.
