Some passersby who were hearing the news for the first time thought there was 'no point' in the base, which opened at Copthall House in New Road on November 30.

Many agreed that the community needs a police station that people can walk into and be able to talk to an officer.

Police and Crime Commissioner for the West Midlands Simon Foster toured the new base last Wednesday, with the Stourbridge and Lye neighbourhood policing teams moving in on November 7.

They will soon be joined by response officers who attend 999 emergencies.

PCC Simon Foster said of the new base: “I know just how welcome this news is for the community of Stourbridge.

“People, families, businesses and the local community will feel reassured, as I deliver on my pledge to provide a police base in Stourbridge town centre and my pledge to continue to rebuild community policing.
