Birmingham man jailed for sexual assault on bus

A Birmingham man who sexually assaulted a woman on a bus has been jailed.

Clive Mandivenga was jailed at Birmingham Magistrates Court after he admitted the offence on the Handsworth to city centre route. 

Mandivenga, 28, was quickly identified by officers from Safer Travel and arrested.

Now Mandivenga, of Princip Street, Birmingham, has been jailed for 17 weeks for the assault which happened on November 11. 

Safer Travel manager Inspector Ivan Merc said: "All sexual offences are traumatic and we welcome the news of this sentencing.

"All passengers have the right to travel without being targeted in this way and we're committed to making our transport network a safe place for everyone.

"Our Project Empower campaign aims to educate people on the fact that unwanted sexual behaviour of any sort is not acceptable."
