It could be said that Noddy's television adverts played a major role in turning Banks's into a nationally recognised brand, and new owners Carlsberg Marston's would be foolish to throw that capital away.
Even after 30 years, people in the Black Country still have fond memories of Noddy's humorous commercials.
All that goodwill will vanish overnight if the Danish-owned conglomerate tries to supplant its much-loved cask ale with generic keg beers.
Noddy may be a global star, but he has never forgotten where he comes from. He understands the Midlands in a way that those responsible for this decision appear not to.
Like Banks's, Noddy is a local institution. The management of Carlsberg Marston's will do well to listen to him.
