West Midlands Police has released a mugshot of Reehan Nezir - the 18 year-old killer of Isaac Brown who was fatally wounded during a confrontation between two groups in West Bromwich's New Square Shopping Centre on April 7 of this year.
The killing took place after an organised meeting turned violent as the result of a robbery in Smethwick earlier the same day.
Nezir, of Smethwick, along with a 14-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons, had been standing trial at Bolton Crown Court, jointly charged with Isaac's murder, which was captured by closed circuit television cameras.
Now, after the pair pleaded guilty to manslaughter, robbery and possession of an offencive weapon today (Tuesday, December 3), the face of Nezir has been revealed.
The fatal incident occurred following a robbery in Smethwick, where a 12-year-old, who Isaac knew through a friend, was assaulted and had his jacket stolen.
After taking to social media to identify the attackers, Isaac was communicated with by the defendants, with Nezir posting 'Do you know who I am?' and 'I'll teach you a lesson'.
The two groups then met in West Bromwich, where Isaac and his friend were approached by a group armed with weapons.
Isaac's group then ran away to New Square Shopping Centre where they were confronted by Nezir and the 14-year-old boy.
CCTV footage showed the disorder between the teenagers, where weapons were brandished and tragically, Isaac was fatally stabbed in the chest.
Following the stabbing, Nezir and the 14-year-old boy fled from the scene but were both arrested the following day.
'We just want him back'
In a tribute, Isaac's family said: “Isaac is a wonderful, loving, kind, happy, son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin.
“Fun and mischievous, always smiling and always there to help. We are unable to understand what has happened. We just want him back and this not to have happened.”
Initially, both defendants denied murder and two other charges of robbery and possessing a knife in a public place.
'Catastrophic consequences of knife crime'
Detective inspector Ade George, from the West Midlands Police homicide unit, said: "Another young life has been lost as a result of young men carrying knives.
“Two groups met up to seek retribution for a robbery that happened earlier in the day. This revenge attack ended up having catastrophic consequences.
“We are doing everything we can to tackle knife crime by not only arresting offenders who choose to carry weapons but also educating young people and preventing them from being drawn into that lifestyle.”
