Images taken by the Express & Star show the debatably drab festive scenes of Walsall town centre's Christmas decorations, a topic that has sparked controversy among residents, shoppers and shopkeepers for the last few years.

The unveiling of the lights comes following last year's display, which saw an unimpressive tree, a forlorn Christmas sleigh and a range of Christmas decorations partially fill the town and its shopping centre.

This year however, the display has been called 'marginally better' as shoppers and shopkeepers again call for more importance to be placed on the holiday.
