The Butts Lantern Trail will take place on December 8 organised by Walsall Creative Factory, a group that create arts and heritage projects within its local communities.

The trail will start from the Creative Factory base at The Butts in Walsall as part of its Christmas fair, and end at Borneo Street allotments with live music and a visit from Santa Claus.

It will include six large lanterns inspired by the heritage and people of the area.

There will be a lantern of a sea plane flown in 1927 by Walsall-born Sidney Webster, a senior officer in the Royal Air Force and the first man to fly at 300mph. He grew up on Borneo Street in 1900.
