Man charged with robbery and assaulting police officer after car stolen

A 23--year-old man has been charged with robbery and assaulting a police officer after a car was allegedly stolen in a Wombourne street.

Callum Talbot, aged 23 and of HMP Featherstone, has been charged with robbery and assault by beating of an emergency worker after a Volkswagen Golf R was driven away from Brooke Road in Wombourne on September 11.

The missing car has since been recovered.

Staffordshire Police said that after Talbot was arrested and taken into custody, an officer was assaulted but was not injured.

Talbot is due to appear at Newcastle-under-Lyme Magistrates Court on December 19.
