Express & Star readers have besieged social media platforms after the news broke the Danish multinational giant was turning the taps off of our beloved tipple Mild.
They have also been signing our petition calling for the travesty to be reversed.
Andy Lockett said: "It was our go to drink when we were younger lads. RIP Banks's Mild."
Mick Broome said: "There’s been a downward slide occurring ever since Carlsberg were allowed to get involved with Banks’s / Marstons. Their interest is in fizzy pop and not cask ales with this being very evident in the choice [not] on offer these days in their so called pubs. Like many have already said it’s another nail in the coffin of brewing, a very sad day indeed."
Sue Cole saw the writing on the wall when Carlsberg took over her hometown brewery. She said: "Probably a known fact when Carlsberg took over they would move out of Wolverhampton and look after their own. It is a pity for the Marston draymen who probably will end up unemployed."
Lisa Cooper added: "Sad day rip banks mild one of my favourite drinks."
Peter Warner said: "Another piece of Wolverhampton's heritage gone a sad sign of the times. Its bad enough that many pubs are also closing down or already gone as well too. The country is especially with the prices today who can afford it anyway, not me sadly."
Smithy Adam said: "Think is too many people don't care to make it stop and they've pushed other brands to saturate the market and sway peoples tastes."
Malcolm Hodges said: "This is definitely sad news for everyone who enjoyed a lovely mild in the Black Country."
Nick Hooper was so annoyed at the news, he is planning to pack his Black Country bags. He said: "I need to emigrate, Wolves is going down the pan along with the rest of the country."
